Child Support Enforcement Division
The support enforcement division of the Medina County Prosecutor's Office provides legal representation to the Medina County Child Support Enforcement Agency, a separate county agency. The primary services provided include enforcement of existing support orders, establishment of paternity, establishment of support orders, and Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) sanctions. These cases are prosecuted in both Domestic Relations Court and Juvenile Court. These services are provided upon referral of the case from the Medina County Child Support Enforcement Agency. The support enforcement division prosecutes approximately 1,000 hearings per year.
Three assistant prosecuting attorneys and two support staff comprise this division. This team has been responsible for facilitating the payment of millions of dollars of support from delinquent parents to Medina County children. Such enforced personal responsibility eases the strain on the parent with whom the children reside. It also reduces the financial burden on taxpayers who would otherwise provide for daily sustenance.
